Food packaging designed to sell
The food and beverage market is relentlessly competitive. On a supermarket shelf, your product sits alongside dozens of competitors all competing for the same split-second of attention. Generic packaging blends in. Distinctive, well-crafted food packaging stands out, builds trust, and gives customers a reason to choose you.
At White Rabbit, we design food packaging that does the selling for you. We get to know your product, your category, and your target consumer, then create packaging that speaks directly to them. Whether your product is destined for a supermarket aisle, a specialty grocer, a cafe counter, or an online store, our brilliant bunnies will make sure it looks exactly like it belongs at the front of the shelf or on your online storefront.
We provide food packaging for businesses all across New Zealand, from Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and everywhere in between.

Food packaging that builds brands
The best food packaging does more than drive a single sale. It builds recognition, creates loyalty, and makes your product instantly identifiable even from the other end of the aisle. Over time, strong packaging becomes one of your most valuable brand assets, the thing customers reach for without even thinking about it.
That is why we approach every food packaging project as a brand-building exercise, not just a print job. We think about how your packaging will look today, how it will scale across a growing range, and how it will hold up as your brand evolves. Getting it right at the start pays off every time a customer picks it up.
Because White Rabbit is a full-service design agency, your food packaging can be part of something bigger. We can align it with your brand identity, your website, and your wider marketing collateral, so everything your customer sees tells a single, coherent story.

Materials, finishes, and sustainability
Good packaging design doesn’t stop at the artwork. The material it’s printed on, the finish it carries, and the environmental credentials it holds are all part of what makes packaging perform in the real world.
We design for the full picture. Whether you’re launching an eco-conscious food brand or producing premium retail packaging, we work with your chosen packaging supplier to make sure every design performs across the intended substrate, print process, and finishing specifications.
Sustainable packaging options
If sustainability is a priority for your brand, we’ll help identify materials, print methods, and formats that align with your goals, budget, and production requirements. Options we regularly work with include:
- Recyclable cardboard cartons
- FSC-certified paper packaging
- Compostable packaging
- Recyclable stand-up pouches
- Glass jars and bottles
- Aluminium cans
- Reusable containers
- Kraft packaging
- Mono-material formats designed for easier recycling
- Vegetable and soy-based inks
Print finishes and effects
For brands where premium presentation matters, we design across the full range of print finishes including matte, gloss, soft-touch laminates, foil stamping, embossing and debossing, spot UV, textured stocks, and specialty inks.
FAQs about our food packaging services in NZ
What kinds of food businesses do you work with?
All sorts. We have worked with small-batch artisan producers, fast-growing FMCG brands, start-ups, cafes, restaurants, and specialty food retailers. If you have a food or beverage product that needs packaging, we would love to hear about it.
Do you handle print production as well as design?
Yes. We can manage the full production process including dieline creation, print-ready file preparation, and printer liaison. If you already have a print supplier, we are happy to work to their specifications as well.
Can you redesign existing packaging?
Absolutely. A packaging refresh is a common brief. We approach it carefully, identifying what is working and what is not, and evolving the design without discarding the brand equity you have already built. No burning it down and starting from scratch, we hop forward from where you already are.
Do you create nutritional panels?
Yes. We can design nutritional panels and information panels as part of your packaging project. We can follow any food labelling requirements provided and make sure the result feels like an integral part of the overall design, rather than an afterthought.
How long does a food packaging project take?
A single-product label typically takes three to six weeks from brief to final artwork. Multi-product ranges or projects involving brand identity work alongside the packaging may take longer. We will give you a clear timeline upfront.

We work across every major food packaging format. Whatever your product needs, our team has the experience to design it.
- Stand-up pouches
- Boxes and cartons

Not sure if your format is covered? Get in touch and we’ll let you know.
Do you provide 3D packaging mockups?
We do. Once a design direction is approved, we’ll produce 3D mockups so you can see how your packaging looks in the real world before anything goes to print. This is especially useful for internal sign-off and for showcasing the product across your other marketing materials.
Need to go further? We also offer fully custom photorealistic 3D renders. The kind of imagery that makes your product look incredible on your website, online store, and social media. Unlike a generic mockup, these are built from scratch specifically for your marketing needs and scoped as a separate project.
How much does food packaging cost in NZ?

- Label design: $1,500 to $10,000+
- Sleeve or bag: $2,500 to $15,000+
